Obituary for Charles Floyd "Red" Curtis
Funeral services have been set for 2:30 P.M., Monday, for Charles Floyd "Red" Curtis, age 65, of Roosevelt, who died Friday night at the Elkview General Hospital of an apparent heart attack. Born December 8th, 1904 in Carson City, Texas, he moved to Kiowa County in 1925. He was married to the former Delta Thelma Hill.
Survivors include: his wife Delta of the home; five sons, Byrd Curtis and Jerry Curtis, both of Ft. Collins, CO, Udell Curtis of Muskogee, Ray Curtis of Aurora, CO and Charles Curtis of Beaumont, TX; five daughters, Mrs. Bobbye J. Smith of Metairie, LA, Mrs. Dorothy L. Holman of Albuquerque, NM, Mrs. Charlotte N. Taylor of Sacramento, CA, Mrs. Eva F. Evans of Elgin, OK and Mrs. Melba J. Harkin of Beaumont, TX; one brother, A. H. Curtis of Moore, OK; four sisters, Mrs. Mattie Atchinson of Lawton, Mrs. Florene Wilbank and Mrs. Mary Caldwell of Mooreland, CA and Mrs. Katherine Smith of Maryland; 29 grandchildren.
Services will be at the First Baptist Church of Roosevelt with the Reverend Bill Gentry officiating. Interment will be in the Roosevelt Cemetery. Mr. Curtis will lie in state at Lowell Memorial Chapel in Roosevelt until service time Monday.
