Obituary for Charles Ramirez
Charles Ramirez, age 71 of Altus, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2005 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
Charles was born on June 11, 1934 to Pete Mendez and Lena (Rodriquez) Ramirez in Dallas, Texas. he married Ofelia Porres De Rodriquez on July 4, 1957 in Juarez, Mexico. Charles retired from the United States Air Force as a training instructor and veteran of the Vietnam War after twenty-six years of service to his country. Charles later joined the Oklahoma Department of Corrections where he worked as a guard at the Oklahoma State reformatory, retiring after twelve years of service. He also was a businessman who enjoyed owning "Designs" with his daughter, Lena, for twenty-four years. A member of Martha Road Baptist church, Charles was an avid reader who loved to work in his yard, watch, T.V. and spend time with his family.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Albert; one daughter, Bertha Lidia; a brother, Fred and a sister, Lily. He is survived by his wife, Ofelia of the home; three children, Lena Glidewell of Enid, Charles Ramirez, Jr. of Altus and Diane Maldonado and husband Freddy of Altus; one sister, Lorraine Garcia of Chicago; two brothers, Salamon Ramirez and George Ramirez of Chicago; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral services for Charles Ramirez will be Thursday, November 17, 2005 at 10 am at the Martha Road Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Baker officiating. Interment will follow at the Martha Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family of Charles Ramirez will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, November 16, 2005 from 6 until 7;30 pm.
