Charlie Mott Ratliff, age 90, of Hollis, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 28, 2014, at Colonial Manor II, in Hollis.
Mr. Ratliff was born in Hollis, Oklahoma on August 15, 1924, to Tom and Essie (Copeland) Ratliff. A Hollis High School Graduate, Charlie married Donnie Mozell Cope on January 10, 1943. Shortly thereafter, Charlie joined the United States Army and served his country during World War II. After the war, Charlie completed his education, receiving a bachelor"s degree at Northeastern University, in Tahlequah, and his master"s degree from Tulsa University. For over twenty years, Charlie was an administrator for Oklahoma and Texas Methodist Children"s Homes. Charlie was a faithful member of the Hollis First United Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charlie is survived by his wife, Donnie Ratliff, of the home; two sons, James Ratliff and wife Donna of Norman, Oklahoma and Fred Ratliff and wife Anette of Kyle, Texas; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and three sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church of Hollis, in memory of Charlie Ratliff.
Memorial services for Charlie Ratliff will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church, in Hollis, with Pastor Don Altom officiating. Services are under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
