Obituary for Chuck
Charles "Chuck" Ross Galmon Jr., 84, former resident of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away June 30, 2022. Services have been entrusted to the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home & Crematory of Altus, OK.

Charles was born on October 10, 1937 in Calhoun, GA to Charles "Willie" Ross Galmon, Sr. and Mandy (Cudd) Galmon. He grew up in Calhoun and earned a bachelor of business degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. At age 17, Charles enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his enlistment, he spent time at Carswell AFB and Altus AFB. He served in the Korean War and honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1957. Charles joined the Air Force reserves and honorably discharged again, ending his 6-year military career.

Charles married the love of his life, Beverly Jean Walker on December 18, 1959 in Altus, Oklahoma. They shared over six decades of their lives together. Beverly faithfully remained by Charles' side until his final moment of life. Their loving union was blessed with a two amazing children a son, Mark, and a daughter, Crystal Rene (Galmon) Ragsdale.

As a civilian, Charles worked as a plant manager for several companies including: Lockheed-Martin, General Dynamics, AMF Ben Hogan Golf, Miller Brewing Company; Reynolds Aluminum, and the Ball Corporation.

On a social level, Charles was involved with the United Way and contributed both financially and hands- on to the Colquitt County Arts Council. He also helped with the Colquitt County Food Pantry and served on the Colquitt County Festival Steering Committee in addition to working with the YMCA. Charles was the recipient of the Phillip Morris Silver Ring Merit Award. He was also a Master Mason, a York Rite Mason, Shiner, and a Scottish Rite Mason.

In his spare time, Charles enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, gardening and genealogy. He also had a passion for flying airplanes and held a private pilot's license. Family was the most important thing to Charles. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his beloved wife. Charles impacted the lives of countless people and gave freely with his whole heart. His presence will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles "Willie" Ross Galmon, Sr. and Mandy (Cudd) Galmon, daughter, Crystal Rene (Galmon) Ragsdale, two brothers, Clarence "Wade" Galmon, "Slage" Ross Galmon, three Edna Ray, Juanita Dorothy Galmon, and Madge Marie Galmon.

Left to honor the warmth of his everlasting memory are his devoted wife of 62 years, Beverly Jean Galmon; his son, Charles Mark Galmon and his wife, Spring; his brother, Billy E. Galmon and his wife, his two sisters: Lou Ann Ward & Mandy Jo Robertson and her husband, Matthew; 3 grandchildren: Mark "Ross" Galmon (Lacey), David "Grant" Galmon, and Megan Rene Galmon; several nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as a host of other relatives, friends, neighbors and masonic and military family.


Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma, with interment to follow at Hess Cemetery.
