Obituary for Clay Osborne
Clayton "Clay" Victor Osborne, age 94, a longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Ayers Nursing Home in Snyder, Oklahoma.
Clay was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 1, 1925 to his parents Carl and Fern (Wallace) Osborne. He graduated from Wichita Kansas High School East, with a scholarship in Vocational Electricity Curriculum in 1944. Clay served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 as an enlisted officer candidate at Notre Dame University and as a non-commissioned officer at Adak and Kodiak, Alaska. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for Los Angeles Water and Power and the Los Angeles office of the State of California office of Architecture and Construction. Clay also worked for the Navy at Pearl Harbor and in California and later at the Altus Air Force Base. He was a Registered Electrical Engineer for the state California. After Clay retired, he enjoyed RVing and doing workshop projects.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marjorie McDonald; two wives, Sally Barteleson Osborne; and Phyllis Lauen Osborne; two daughters, Cynthia Lyn McCarty; and Carol Mlawsky; two step-sons, Butch Lauen; and Kevin Ketchpaw.
Clay is survived by one son, Steven Thomas Osborne and his wife Karen of Whitefish, Montana; three step-daughters, Debra Bell; Penny Mosley; and Sharon Puckett and her husband Larry; thirteen grandchildren, Chrystie, Cameron, Megan, Trevor, Danny, Roland, Kimberly, Montie, Roxanne, Joshua, Waylon, Kyle, and Robert; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel in Altus with Pastor Scott DeVore officiating.
Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the United States Navy
