Cleo E, "Red" Hewett


Funeral services for Cleo "Red" Hewett, 75, of Altus are scheduled for 2:00pm Monday, February 15 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Altus Cemetery. Rev. Keith Wiginton will officiate. Mr. Hewett died February 12 in a Lawton Hospital. Mr. Hewett was born December 28, 1917 in Waco, Texas to Samual J. Tillery Hewett and his wife Estella. Mr. Hewett came to Altus in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a combat engineer. Red married Velma Riggs in Altus on April 8, 1955. Red worked for Paul Corbin Pontiac and Cadallic untol purchased by Wilmes Cadallic, where Red continued to work until his retirement in 1985 after 38 years of service. After retirement Red worked part time for Rolands Transmission Shop. Red was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., W.O.W., Western Prarie Sams, and was a deacon in the First Baptist Church of Altus. Lowell-Tims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife Velma Hewett of Altus, Oklahoma; children Glenda M. Jordan and Leon of Canute, Oklahoma; Kathryn "Sue" Stillwell and Charles of Canute, Oklahoma; sisters Marie Smith of Altus, Oklahoma; Bea Turner of Iowa Park, Texas; six grandchildren, Thomas McMullen of Altus, Myron L. McMullen Jr. of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Tonya Sifton, of Clayton, New York; Daniel Tomlinson, of Daytona Beach, Florida; Kathy Cryer of Altus, Oklahoma; Matthew Stillwell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four great grandchildren, one neice, two nephews, and a host of friends.

Preceded in death by his parents one sister, Gladys Martin.
