Obituary for Cleo Obera Bearden
Cleo Andrus Bearden, 107, Duke, was greeted into the loving arms of Jesus at her home on Friday, November 8, 2024.

Cleo Obera West was born on July 27, 1917, in the Prairie Hill community near Duke, Oklahoma to Louis Edward and Bonnie Irene (Bonds) West. She grew up in Prairie Hill and graduated from Prairie Hill School. She married Raymond Andrus on March 9, 1935, at the Prairie Hill Methodist Parsonage. Cleo worked in the home and took care of their six children while Raymond farmed and harvested wheat. The couple moved to Tulia, Texas in 1953 and then to Dallas, Texas in 1961 due to Raymond's health. He passed away in 1964. Cleo continued to live in Dallas until her children were grown. She went to work for Texas Instruments for ten years. Cleo would then move back to Duke and married Parker Brawley in August of 1971. He passed in 1980. She would again find love and would marry Monte Bearden in December of 1982. He passed in 2011.

Cleo was a former member of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church and was a current member of the Duke First Baptist Church. She was baptized when she was 24 at the Prairie Hill Baptist Church and loved to serve the Lord. She loved teaching and taught children's Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed painting, sewing, and gardening. Cleo especially enjoyed traveling. She traveled to several places around the globe, enjoying Israel so much that she went there twice. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she loved spending time and making memories with them.

Cleo was preceded in death by her three husbands; her parents; her daughter, Sharon Andrus Brown; a grandson, Ray Foley; a brother, Norman West; and a stepson-in-law, Danny Hill.

Those left to cherish her legacy are her children, Pat Andrus, Barbara Andrus Adkison, Norma Andrus Daniel, Randall Andrus and wife, Dana, and Connie Donithan and husband, Vance; her grandchildren, Rhonda Newton and Richard Cofer, Renee Thompson and husband, J.G., Eric Etheridge and wife, Rebecca, Cheryl Etheridge, Brian Etheridge, Trey George and wife, Debbie, Jerry Daniel and wife, Angie, Starla Goodger and Tom Petty, Roxanne Daniel and David Hammons, Randy Andrus, Cassie Andrus, Ryan Andrus, and Chuck Slattery; 16 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; 4 great great great grandchildren with number 5 on the way; a son-in-law, Phelps Brown; two stepsons, Bobby Bearden and wife, Betty, and their two sons, Michael and wife, Carmen, and Chase and wife, Ashlea, and Jeff Bearden and his family; a stepdaughter, Vicki Hall and her children, Dantz and wife, Summer, and Monica Claussen and husband, Chris; and many other family members and friends.

Cleo's family would like to give a special thank you to Kim, Suzanne, Monica, and other staff of the Jackson County Memorial Hospital Hospice and Dr. Dawod for the wonderful care given to their mother.

The family will host a visitation on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Duke First Baptist Church with Rev. David Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie Hill Cemetery under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorial contributions in Cleo's name may be made to the Duke First Baptist Church or to the Jackson County Memorial Hospital Hospice
