Survivors include: his wife, Alta Fey Smalling Johnson of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; a daughter, Gayle Deere of Altus, OK; son-in-law and daughter, Sue and Alex Baker of Altus, OK; grandson, Steve Baker; two granddaughters, Cheryl Moody of Olustee, OK and Lisa Myers of Bartlesville, OK; one great-grandson, Justin Moody of Olustee, OK; two brothers, Josh Johnson of Mangum, OK and George Johnson of Texhoma, OK; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: a son, James Franklin Johnson in 1958.
