Cora Alta Cantwell, 70, wife of the late Q.A. Cantwell, passed away Thursday at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Services will be held Monday at 2:00 pm in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel on Tamarack Road officiated by Sony Tims. Burial will be in the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, Terry Tims Funeral Director.

Cantwell was born October 20, 1920. She was the daughter of David and Alta Felty. She married Q.A. Cantwell in September of 1966 at Vernon, Texas. He preceded her in death October 12, 1982. She was a cook at the Dairy Mart, Clyde's, Shasta's and the Dairy Queen before retirement at age 65 in 1986. She was also a member of L.A.M.P. and the First Baptist Church of Altus.

During her 40's and 50's she worked seven days a week on the job besides creating a paradise in her back yard with various Roses, Irises, and perennials. She was a her happiest when working in her yard.

She is survived by her seven children; Charlotte Anne Swailes of Memphis, Tennessee; Virginia Louise Henderson of Killeen, Texas; Barbars Sue Villarreal of Elk Grove, California; Beverly Kay White of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Eddy Leon Purcell, of Altus, Oklahoma; Brenda Ebalene Weeks of Yukon, Oklahoma; and Debra Diane Leamon of Altus, Oklahoma; two sisters Anna Bowden of Olustee, and Nadalene Hall of Altus, Oklahoma; Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
