Corinne Roberta Knight, age 87, of Mangum, passed away early Saturday morning, December 25, 2010, at Grace Living Center.
Mrs. Knight was born on February 26, 1923, in Blair, to Robert and Myrtle (Woodall) Shaw. Corinne married Elmer Knight on April 8, 1941, in Olustee, and later graduated from Blair School in May of 1941. Living a short time in Lawton, they moved to the Reed Community where they farmed for many years. Corinne was a homemaker, but found her place at Elmer"s side helping with the farming and ranching operation or wherever a farm wife was needed. In the late 1980"s, she moved into Mangum after Elmer"s death. A long-time member of the Sulphur Baptist Church, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, cracking pecans, playing Wa Hoo and Skip-Bo, but raising her four boys and spending time with her family brought the most joy in her life.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer, in 1985; her son, Micky, in 2009; two brothers, Leonard Shaw and Loyd Shaw and one sister, Doris Winters, she is survived by three sons, Elmer "Buddy" Knight and wife LaQuita of Mangum, Harold Loyd Knight of Mangum and Royce Dan Knight and wife Donna Sue of Clinton; nine grandchildren, Steven Knight, Shalia Willis, Jeffry Knight, Michael Knight, Jacquie Chestnut, Kendra Keelin, Dustin Knight, Chanda Sheperd and Kelsey Williams; nineteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Corinne Knight will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at the Mangum First Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Mosley and Pastor Shawn Laughlin officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
