Obituary for Coy C. Shadid
Coy C. Shadid, 85 years of Age, passed away November 4, 1999. He was born August 21, 1914 in Dill City, Oklahoma, to Elias and Nehami Taylor Shadid. He was married to Jimmie Burrow on May 15, 1946. He graduated from Mangum High School and attended the University of Texas until called into the service of World War II. Following the war he earned a saw degree from both Oklahoma University and southern Methodist University. He graduated from Southern Methodist University with the highest honors being one of the few to receive the Order of the Wool Sox. He was a member of Delta Theta Phi Law fraternity and Phi Beta Sigma. Coy and Jimmie lived in Altus, Oklahoma , for forty-five years where they owned and operated a ladies ready to wear shop. Coy was a member of the Altus Golf and Country Club, Lions Club, Masons and Shrines. He was the past president of the Altus Chamber of Commerce, a Board Member of the Salvation Army and a Deacon at First Baptist Church, Altus, Oklahoma. He taught Sunday School for many years. The Shadids retired in 1974 and moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, in 1914 to be near their children.

survivors are wife, Jimmie of the home, son Randel and wife, Dana, Barry and wife Dorene of Edmond; two grandsons, Jerame Shadid of Addison, Texas, and Jerod Shadid of Edmond, Oklahoma; three step-grandchildren, Jennifer Paxton and husband Jason of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Christopher Whitaker, Edmond, and Julie Whitaker of California, one sister, Olga Hawkins, Brothers, Abe, Philip and Ned of Altus and sister-in-law, Lila Shadid of Altus, Oklahoma. Coy was preceded in death by his parent, a sister Edna Dakil and brothers, Hoyt and Jack.

Arrangements are through Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma, and the memorial service will be at the First Baptist Church, Altus, Oklahoma, on Monday, the 8 of November, 1999 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers memorials may be make to the Baptist Boys Ranch, Edmond, Oklahoma, or the Charity of your choice.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, November 8, 1999 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church in Altus with Rev. Keith Wiginton. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Family will have visitation Sunday afternoon November 7, 1999 from 3:00 to 5:00pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
