Obituary for Cruz Leal Maldonado
Cruz Maldonado, age 80, a longtime resident of Martha, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020 at his home in Martha.
Cruz was born in Tivoli, Texas on July 12, 1939 to his parents Juan and Angelita Maldonado. He grew up in Robstown, Texas and Corpus Christi, Texas and on June 21, 1958 Cruz married the love of his life Mary Gonzalez and they have enjoyed over 61 years of marriage together. Cruz came to southwest Oklahoma to work the cotton fields and the family settled in Martha where he has resided for the last 59 years. Cruz worked for the Barrett Brothers farming and ranching and later worked for himself as owner operator of Maldonado Concrete until he retired. Cruz was a hard worker to provide for his family. He loved his family and he treasured spending time with them. Cruz loved family time on the front porch and going to Lake Lugert with his family and he will be missed very much.
Cruz is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Danny Maldonado; three brothers and two sisters; and his granddaughter, Alexandria Maldonado.
Cruz is survived by his wife Mary Maldonado of the home; three sons, Joe Maldonado and wife Teresa; Lee Maldonado and wife Annabelle of Abilene, Texas; and Cruz Maldonado, Jr. and wife Mollie of Altus; two daughters, Norma Gonzalez of Altus; and JoAnn Lucio and husband Salvador of Altus; his sister, Juanita Abrego of Robstown, Texas; fourteen grandchildren, Becky Maldonado, April Maldonado, Stephanie Koehler, Cody Maldonado, Chuckie Gonzalez, Eric Guerra, David Lee Maldonado and wife Belle, Felicia Maldonado, Christina Maldonado, Angela Maldonado, Ashlee Maldonado, Matthew Maldonado, Zackary Gonzales and wife Maria, and Janessa Reyes; twenty-five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other family members and friends.
The family will greet friends at visitation from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday evening, February 8, 2020 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel with Pastor Salvador Maldonado officiating.
