Obituary for Daisy L. Kelley
Daisy Goen Kelley, 96, died Sunday at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will be at the Olustee Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kelley was born at Olustee, Oklahoma to pioneer parents, Stanley and Annie Goen on
April 7, 1900. She attended school in rural Jackson County and lived in Olustee and Altus all of her life. She was a long-time member of the Thomas Street Church of Christ. Her faith was evident in the lives of those who know her. While residing in Altus she was a dental assistant for Dr. Alva Hill and Dr. L.D. Whitlock until she retired in 1956. She married Carl McAlpine on March 21, 1918. The were blessed with two children, Stanley and Joy McAlpine. The folld of 1935 took the lives of Annie Goen (Daisy's mother) her husband Carl and daughter, Joy. Mrs Kelley and twelve year old Stanley were rescued from a tree on Turkey Creek the following day.
In 1942 Daisy married Orval Kelley. He was killed later the same year.
She was also preceded in death by two step-children, Bob, don Kelley, a great granddaughter Melissa McAlpine of Lewisville, Texas.
She is survived by her son, Stanley and his wife Clesta, McAlpine of Altus, two grandsons, Clay McAlpine of Muskogee, and Stephen McAlpine of Lewisville, Texas, three great-grandchildren, Allison McAlpine Owasso, Kelsay McAlpine of Lewisville, Texas and Christie McAlpine of Muskogee, three step-children, Maybell Kiker of Haven, Kansas, Cleo Williams, Haven, Kansas and Don Kelley of Wichita, Kansas and nephews Dr. RayBurne Goen of Tulsa, Fred McAlpine, of Altus, Ok Cortez Sheehan, Burna Vista, California.
