Daniel "Danny" Wayne Hawthorne, age 58, of Claremore, Oklahoma, formerly of Altus, passed away, suddenly, Friday evening, August 1, 2014, at Integris Bass Hospital, in Enid, Oklahoma.
Danny was born in Altus on August 24, 1955, to William B. "Buddy" and Nelda Lou (Williams) Hawthorne. After high school, Danny began working in the family custom harvesting and construction business for many years. Danny later attended Southwest Technology where he studied aviation and aerospace technology and later worked in that field at Altus Air Force Base. In 2011, Danny moved to Claremore, Oklahoma to be closer to his son and daughter-in-law, retiring due to his health. A Christian man who dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren, Danny enjoyed going to church, restoring old cars, singing and playing guitars and drums and riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
Preceded in death by his mother, Danny is survived by father, William B. "Buddy" Hawthorne; five children, Shannon Ward of Boswell, Oklahoma, Jason Hawthorne of California, Sarah Daniel of Texarkana, Texas, Matthew Hawthorne of Oklahoma City and Craig Hawthorne and wife Kassi of Claremore; one sister, Dennise Gilliam and husband David of Altus; two brothers, David Hawthorne and wife Karen of Altus and Loyd Daniel Hawthorne of Altus; three grandchildren, Cody Daniel, Lauren Daniel and Megan Daniel along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Danny Hawthorne will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ted Estes officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 until 7 p.m.
