Obituary for Danny Ray McCuistion
Danny Ray McCuistion, 64, Formerly of Altus, Oklahoma, passed unexpectedly on September 4th, 2022. He suffered a massive heart attack while surrounded by family. They were living out a life-long dream of a bucket list trip to Portland, Maine. Danny was born on February 27, 1958 in Altus, Oklahoma to Perry Emmanuel McCuistion and Norma Gean McCuistion. His family put roots down in Olustee, Oklahoma. Danny was an incredible athlete and played on the baseball and basketball team in Olustee and later went on to play baseball for Western Oklahoma State College.
Soon after graduating high school, Danny went to work with his mentor and friend, former senator, Herschal Crow, at the state capitol in Oklahoma City. After working with Herschal, Danny went back to his hometown, Olustee, to serve as a council member, and later became mayor of Olustee. While working as mayor, Danny worked as a branch manger of the Olustee bank until he went back to university to continue his education. After earning his bachelor's degree in Accounting from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, he went on to work at the lending firm, Farm Credit, in Altus, Oklahoma. Danny decided after leaving Farm Credit to pursue a career in banking. While living in Altus, Danny served on the council of Altus, Oklahoma where he did many projects to serve his community such as, the chairman for the building of the Imagination Station, the cleaning p of Altus, and crime-stoppers. He was also involved in many organizations including the Military Affairs Committee, Main Street Committee, Leadership Thirty, Foundations of the Western Oklahoma State College, and the Rotary Club of Altus. He ended his career working as the financial officer for Lee Office Equipment in Altus, Oklahoma until he finally retired.
Of all his wonderful accomplishments in life, his biggest accomplishment was being a devout husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was so proud of his wife, two daughters and son-on-law, his grandson and his many nieces ad nephews. If you knew Danny, you knew his family. He did not know a stranger and would do anything and everything for those he loved. He took the time to show every loved one in his life his wisdom and knowledge. Every moment was a teachable moment in Danny's eyes. He was a devoted Christian, he loved telling all of his relatives about the birth of our Lord and Savior, and reading scripture during the holidays. Danny loved to golf with his girls and son-in-law, fish with his uncle Bobby, watch football games with his nephews, and travel the countryside with his wife, Liz.
Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents, O.E. and Lizzie McCuistion and Alta and Fate Welch; his parents, Perry and Norma McCuistion; and his brothers, Ronnie and Randy McCuistion.
Danny leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years, Liz of Kingston, OK; his daughters: Whitney McCuistion of Midwest City, OK and Chelsea and Rory Reed of El Reno, OK: grandson, Barrett Reed; bonus daughter Caylee Elkins of Altus, OK; Aunt Darinda and Uncle Bobby Welch of Mead, OK; cousin Brenda and Bob Konen of Altus, OK; Aunt Betty Bornheim of McAlester, OK; sisters-in-law: Robbe LaMunyon (Danny) of Altus, Sally Mains (Mike) of Altus, Merry Smith (Randy) of Altus, Margaret Disney and Leander Thacker of Dallas, TX. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Devin and Jacqui Welch of Mead, OK; Chris Groves of Miami, FL; Jake and Mercedes LaMunyon of Altus, Ok; Amanda and Tyler Redding of Altus, OK; Drew George of Altus, OK; Brady and Shelby George of Austin, TX; Tyler and Sarah George of Altus, OK; Skyler Smith of Altus; Shane McKee of Oklahoma CIty; Tommy Disney of Dallas, TX; his great-nieces and nephews: Chevelle, Ryder, Jessie and Westlyn LaMunyon; Parker, Stevie and Nova Smith; Jett George; Breck and Livie Redding; Jimi Mae George, and was waiting the arrival of his newest nephew, Wyatt George.
