Obituary for David L. Martin
David L. Martin, 57, long time resident of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away December 9, 2021 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

David was born November 9, 1964, in Salina, Kansas to James David Martin and Marjorie (Laughlin) Martin. David was the youngest of three children born into this close-knit military family that lived in many places, including Kansas, New Jersey, Sentinel and Enid. The Martin family settled in Mangum, Oklahoma when David was in the 7th grade. He was a member of Mangum High School's graduating class of 1983. David furthered his education at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus, Oklahoma. With his degree earned, David began working as a butcher for the United Grocery Stores company. He worked in the Mangum, Ponca City, Purcell, Snyder, and Hollis branches of the company during the more than twenty years he dedicated to United. After so many years of service in the same arena, David decided to explore other avenues. He had grown weary of the constant moving and made the decision to return home to Mangum in 2000. David found a new position in Granite with the Oklahoma State Reformatory. He was happy with his work there, until health concerns forced him to retire in 2005. Although things had shifted in David's life at this time, he was still blessed with happiness when he married his wife, Sara, at the United Pentecostal Church in Mangum in 2006. This union changed his life for the better in all ways.
When he was free from work and other obligations, David enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, OU Football, fishing, and chatting with friends around town. David accomplished many wonderful things during his lifetime, but for him, his crowning achievement was simply being a father and grandpa. He loved his family with all his heart and his presence will surely be missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his loving wife of fifteen years, Sara Martin; Sons, James Martin, Noah Martin, Luke Martin all of Mangum, Oklahoma, Daughters, Kylie Martin and partner Blake Ramirez, of Mangum, Oklahoma, Justice Martin of Mangum, Oklahoma, Brionna Martin of Mangum, Oklahoma, Jaysha Martin and partner Rafa Valencia of Medford, Oregon, Cali Martin of Mangum, Oklahoma; Mother, Marjorie Martin of Mangum, Oklahoma, Brother, Gregg Martin, and wife Terri; Sister, Vickie Lynn Cooley of Dale, Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Blakelee and Caylor Ramirez of Mangum, Oklahoma, Aleya Valencia of Medford, Oregon, nephews, Greg, and wife April Martin of Mangum, Oklahoma, Tadd and wife Lindsey Martin of Hobart, Oklahoma, Zach, and wife Shannon Martin, of Mangum, Oklahoma, Travis and wife Rachel Cooley of McLoud, Oklahoma; Niece, Amanda and husband Carlos Beltran of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Great nieces and nephews, Madyson, Daylen, Jase, Rhett, Dexton, Logan, Remington, Ridley, Turner, Lex, Preston, Lola, Zoey, Enrique, and Isabella.
