Obituary for Deborah "Debby" Corey
Deborah "Debby" Lea (Guenzel) Corey, former resident of Mission, Texas and longtime resident Altus, Oklahoma passed away at the age of 71 on Thursday, February 16 in her home in Altus surrounded by her loving family.
Debby was born March 30, 1951 to Walter Lee Guenzel and Wanda Mae (Heath) Guenzel in Clinton, Oklahoma. She lived with her sister and parents in Mission, Texas; where she grew up and graduated school. After high school, she because a Baylor Bear in Waco, Texas; where she got her Bachelors in Education. With this degree she became a teacher, working in Waco before eventually moving to Houston where she continued teaching secondary Math and Science. While working, she continued with her schooling. She attended Prairie View A&M in Prairie View, Texas while obtaining a Masters in Science. In 1993 Debby moved to Sayre, Oklahoma and continued to teach in Elk City. Later she moved to Duke, Oklahoma and worked in Blair Public Schools until her retirement in 2021.
During her many years of teaching she had four beautiful daughters. She made sure to make time for them and raise them in a happy and loving home. Debby loved her family more than anything else in the world. Debby met the love of her life Arthur Corey. The two of them tied the knot on March 4, 1995 at the First Baptist Church in Altus, Oklahoma. They had a wonderful 27 years together, making everlasting memories.
Debby was a faithful servant of the Lord. She enjoyed playing the piano for her church, the First Baptist Church of Duke, Oklahoma and she also played piano for the Blair school events. Debby loved horseback riding; she was the secretary of the Grand National Horsemen's Association. When she had the free time, she would use all the time she could to spend time with her children and especially put aside time to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Debby is preceded in death by her parents Walter Lee Guenzel and Wanda Mae (Heath) Guenzel; granddaughter Callie Cortez; uncle Cate R.C; and aunt Jo.
Left to honor her memory is her husband, Arthur Corey; daughters Holly Bradley and husband Derek of Texas, Wende Boles and husband David of Oklahoma; Jennifer Arnold of Oklahoma, and Stephanie Arnold of Oklahoma; sister Pam of Oklahoma; her 11 wonderful grandkids: Haleigh, Gunner, Shelby, Tobey, Chris, Cody, Nicholas, Hunter, Gavyn, Reagan, and Braylea; and her 3 wonderful great grandkids Zeke, Aiden, and Barrett; as well as many other loved family members and friends. Debby was a kind soul with an amazing heart that will be missed by all who knew her.

The family will greet friends at visitation from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, February, 24, 2023 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Chapel in Altus, Oklahoma with Pastor B.J. Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow at the Blair Cemetery in Blair, Oklahoma.
