Obituary for Delia Guajardo Palacios
Delia Palacios, 83 of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away at her home on August 8, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Delia was born on October 25, 1936 to Lauro and Maria (Salazar) Guajardo in Rio Hondo, Texas. Delia lived in several places during her life before moving to Mangum. These included Seagraves, Texas, Crowder, Mississippi, Bradley, Arkansas, as well as several towns around Southwest Oklahoma. Delia started the third grade before going to work at the local cannery. She also worked as a migrant worker picking cotton, working in the green house, housekeeping, and whatever was necessary to make ends meet. She enjoyed fishing, playing various instruments and listening to music, singing, doing jigsaw puzzles together and was known as the "checker queen" by her friends and family.
Delia is preceded in death by her parents; Daughter, Diamantina Palacios; Brothers, Lauro, Oscar, George, and Juan; Sisters, Irma, Juana, and Josefina; Grandchildren, Edward Shane, and Valcie Alexander.
She is survived by her sons, Lauro Palacios and Linda Carroll, Sergio Palacios Jr and wife Elizabeth; Daughter, Celerina Nichols and husband Jerry Nichols; Brothers, Manuel, Ricardo, Pedro Guajardo; Sisters, Manuela and husband Eliseo Palomino, Benita and husband Valentin Romero; Grandchildren, Diamantina Nichols, Victoria Nichols, Delia D. Palacios, Margarethe McKee and husband Kevin, Elisabeth Palacios, Melissa Gomez, Anica Maria Ditchkofsky, Lauro I. Palacios, Sergio H.
