Derwood E. (Jack) Hooper


Derwood E Hooper was born August 24th, 1917 at Elmer, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Earl and Lena Russett Hooper. He died October 21, 1997 at the Mangum City Hospital. He was a life long resident of Jackson County. He married Ruth Shive of November 3, 1945 in McAllister, Oklahoma. He ser4ved in the Army Air Corps during World War 11. He was stationed in the South Pacific for 44 months when he was honorably discharged. He served on the Navajo School Board for 13 years. His keen interest was in helping the youth. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 1997 at the Lowell Tims Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Keith Wiginton and Rev. Madison Clinton. Interment will follow in the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

Jack in survived by his wife, Ruth Hooper of the home, Daughter Sara and husband Kenneth Lemaster of Headrick, Sister Opal Hoy of California, Two Grandchildren Melissa and Kayla Lemaster. Brother-in-law, Carrol Shive and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Alta McFaddin and Earlene Heiden.
