Derwood E. (Jack) Hooper

Derwood E. (Jack) Hooper was born August 24, 1917at Elmer, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Earl and Lena (Russett) Hooper. He died October 21, 1997 at the Mangum City Hospital. He was a life long resident of Jackson County. He married Ruth Shive November 3, 1945 at McAllister, Oklahoma. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was stationed in the South Pacific for 44 months when he was honorably discharged. He served on the Navajo School Board for 13 years. His keen interest was in helping the youth. He was a loving husband father and grandfather.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 1997 at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel . Officiating will be Rev. Keith Wiginton and Rev. Madison Clinton. Interment will follow in the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

Survivors include wife, Ruth Hooper of the home. Children, Sara Lemaster and husband Kenneth of Headrick, Oklahoma. One Sister Opal Hoy of California. 2 Neices, Milissa and Kayla Lemaster, Brother in law Carrol Shive and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in Death by his parents, 2 sisters, Alta McFaddin and Earlene Heiden.
