Donald Gene Davis, age 75, of Blair, passed away Thursday evening, February 13, 2014, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital, in Lawton.
Mr. Davis was born in Wetumka, Oklahoma on November 18, 1938, to Vernie Marion and Lola Mae (Stuckey) Davis. Moving to Warren in the early 1940"s, Gene graduated from Warren in 1957 and went on to attend Southwestern College at Weatherford. On January 14, 1963, Gene joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country for two years. On May 1, 1963, he married the love of his life, Karen June White in Gainesville, Texas. For many years, Gene worked in road construction, assisting with the construction of Interstates 35 and 40 in the Oklahoma City area. He also was the owner of Davis Dozier Service, in Billings, during the late 60"s and 70"s. For a time, Gene owned and operated a service station in the Perry, Oklahoma area, later working as a wielder for Conoco, where he retired. The family moved to the Warren area where Gene purchased a farm and enjoyed his retirement years. Gene was a 32nd Degree Mason, was the past Worshipful Master of the Billings, Oklahoma Lodge and a member of the Tonkawa Lodge. He also had served on the Jackson County Fair Board, the Jackson County Economic Development Committee, was Past President of the Warren Senior Citizen Committee and was a member of the Warren Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, going to air shows and traveling to Port Aransas, Texas.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife, Karen of the home; three sons, Danny Davis, Tommy Davis and Donnie Davis and wife Sheila of Owasso, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Erin Hollingsworth of Talequah and Mariah Davis of Moore; three brothers, James Davis and wife Jeanette of Lawton, Mac Davis and wife Nina of Blair and Dick Davis and wife Kay of Cashion, Oklahoma along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Donald Gene Davis will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2014, at the Warren Baptist Church with Pastors Ed Hefflin and Ken Lyles officiating. Interment will follow at the Warren Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Warren Baptist Church in memory of Donald Gene Davis.
