NOLAN
Donald Jaboy Nolan, age 82, of Altus, passed away Wednesday evening, February 3, 2016, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Nolan was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on August 9, 1933, to Denver Guthrie and Roverda (Winn) Nolan. A sports fanatic, and football player, Don graduated from Bristow, Oklahoma High School in 1952. Don continued his education at Central State College, in Edmond, where he continued excelling in football. With the Korean War in progress, Don joined the United States Army, where he proudly served his country for just over two years. Returning to Central State, Don eventually joined the workforce and started a career with Kerr McGee Oil Company, living in Bristow, Seminole and Pauls Valley. On August 30, 1957, he married the love of his life, Elaine Caves, and they spent the next 58 wonderful years together, before his death. In 1963, the family moved to Altus where he worked for Sinclair Oil and Gas Wholesale Company. Later he and J.D. Skinner partnered to form Siknner Oil Company until he began Supersports in 1978, which he ran, as a family business, until 2010. For 53 years, Don Nolan was an Altus Bulldog and supported the young people, in the area, in all sports.
