Obituary for Donald Willard Chilson
Funeral service for Donald W. Chilson,84, Mangum, Oklahoma will be at Greer Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Marsha Purtell officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Mangum with Military Honors under the direction of Greer Funeral Home, Mangum. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 between 5-7 P.M.
Donald W. Chilson was born to Lloyd O. and Mary (Bradish) Chilson in Coudersport, Pennsylvania on October 19, 1930. He grew up in Couderspert and married Gloria Ann Ryder on July 15, 1950 in Tuna, Pennsylvania. He joined the Air Force in 1952 and spent over 21 years in while serving in various locations including a tour in Vietnam. They made their home in Colorado Springs from 1968 thru 1993 when the moved to Mangum. He was a member of the American Legion and of Trinity Baptist Church and attended First United Methodist Church, Mangum. He enjoyed Bowling, fishing, golf, camping, parades, pitching softball and photography.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, Maxine, Bud, Jo, Rita and Elaine, and a son, Donald Chilson Jr.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Dianna Lynn and husband Frank Koegler of Prescott, Arizona; a daughter in law, Billie Chilson of Mangum; 4 grandchildren, Shawn and husband Terry Whetstone of Mangum, Dawn Chilson of Lubbock, TX, Renee Butler and Melissa Koegler both of Prescott, AZ; 3 great grandchildren, Matthew Whetstone, Cassandra Whetstone and Zoey Butler and many other relatives and friends.
