HALE

Dora Mae Hale, 84, was called to Heaven, on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, after a courageous battle with the dreaded disease of Alzheimer"s and associated complications. Dora Mae Dickerson was born to Grover and Alice Dickerson in the Midway Community, east of Eldorado, Oklahoma on 4 October 1930. Dora married Hardy Ray Richardson, of Eldorado on, 9 May 1949, and then Billy Don Hale, of Eldorado, on 5 March 1989, after the passing of Hardy Ray. Dora is preceded in death by Hardy Richardson, her parents and brothers Edward, Lloyd, Floyd and Roy.

Dora was everyone"s friend and being social to everyone she contacted was built into her DNA. Her outgoing personality was one of the reasons everyone loved Dora (Do-Do as she was frequently called by many and named by her eldest granddaughter, Deena, because little kids could not say Dora). She was always a small town business woman and her personality served her well. She loved jewelry, regardless if it was a piece of costume jewelry or the real thing. She enjoyed changing her attire with a splash of bling and a different pair of shoes. Her hair was always perfect and nothing made her feel better than having her hair fixed which she always enjoyed to her last days.

Dora"s driving was always of the exciting nature. She liked to drive fast which qualified her as an occasional volunteer ambulance driver in previous years. When Dora came to a fork in the road, she took it. Many stories exist of her scenic drives by taking highways by mistake or by choice. Visiting New Mexico with a wrong turn out of Boise City, Oklahoma in route to Eldorado from Colorado was just a scenic tour. Her green thumb never left her spirit. It was easy to drive by her house and see her front yard flower beds and her down on her knees pulling those dreaded weeds against the backdrop of her beautiful peach rose bushes. Dora"s love for kids made her face light up and extended outside the boundaries of her family. She never tired of kids sitting on her lap and carrying on a children"s conversation. She never grew tired of working word puzzles to pass the time of day. Her friends were always giving her word puzzles to assist in her battle of Alzheimer"s.

Dora"s life and successful career in a small town as a professional and volunteer mandated many trades. Just a few include City Clerk, dress shop owner, caf" owner, feed store employee, wheat harvester cook, ambulance driver, Pauper"s Station employee, Mother, Grandmother, Baptist Church Nursery Director, nanny, housewife, contract ironing and laundry worker. She loved to work and be busy, even in her final days.

Husband Don Hale has been Dora"s faithful companion, soul mate and friend through thick and thin. Providing comfort and compassion to Dora has been a blessing to not only Dora, but also the family, especially in the battle with Dora"s Alzheimer"s. He has been a saint, and has a special place in everyone"s heart.

She is survived by husband Don Hale of the home, Gayle and Ronnie Jones of Altus, Oklahoma, Mike and Ruth Richardson of Eldorado, Oklahoma, Wanda and Bill Black of Weatherford, Texas and Harva and Rodney Walker of Midwest City, Oklahoma, also 9 Grandchildren, three stepchildren, 19 Great-Grandchildren with numerous living step grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as Sisters Janie and CJ Roe of Eldorado and Lola and Blaine Johnson of Tyler, Texas.

Funeral services for Dora Mae Hale will be at the Methodist Church, Eldorado, Oklahoma on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Bobby Jones officiating. Burial will be at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, Eldorado.
