Obituary for Doris Mae Terry
Doris Mae Terry, age 75, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Doris was born April 25, 1929 in Texas to her father Horace King and a mother who died bringing her into this world.
Doris grew in Texas where she married Joe Terry. In 1948 Joe and Doris relocated to Tipton, Oklahoma. In 1967 Doris and her family moved to Altus, Oklahoma where she raised a family of nine children. She will always be remembered for humming gospel hymns while preparing the family meals. She was a loving, protective mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by Joe, her husband of 53 years; her parents Horace and Mary King; eldest son, Horace Terry; her eldest daughter Wanda Gildon, and daughter Diana Terry; two brothers, Willie Jones and John King.
She leaves behind four sons, Louis (Cookie) Terry and wife Pat of Las Vegas, Nevada, Terry Lee (Pokie) Terry and his wife Gwen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Marvin Terry of Seattle, washington; two daughters, LaDoris Robinson and her husband Kenneth of Altus, Oklahoma and Shirley Lacy of Las Vegas, Nevada. Doris was also blessed with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who's love for her will continue throughout their lifetime.
Services for Doris Mae Terry are scheduled for Thursday, May 27, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Elder De W. Jones officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
