Obituary for Dorothy Belle Chambers
Dorothy Belle Chambers, age 75, passed away at the Mangum City Hospital Thursday, March 20th, 1986 in the morning. Funeral services are set for 2 P.M. Saturday afternoon at the Epworth Methodist Church in Mangum, Oklahoma, with the Reverend Margaret Marcy officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Chambers was born near Olustee, Oklahoma on January 30th, 1911. Her parents are the late Edward Woods Templer and Mollie McKibbin Templer. She attended the Red Hill School and graduated from Duke High School. After attending Oklahoma Southwestern State University, she taught at the Central and Plainview community schools during WWII. Later she retrained as a medical lab technician and was associated with the Sellers Medical Clinic for many years until her retirement. She was very active in church and charity work and was involved in many local Mangum activities to include Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mangum VFW.
Survivors include: her husband, Arnold Starr Chambers of the home in Mangum; one son, Jim Chambers of Richardson, Texas; two daughters, Nancy Atwood of Stockton, CA and Molly Ann Collins of Mangum; five brothers, Woods Templer of Duke, Wayne Templer of Mangum, Raymond Templer of Silver City, NM, Marvin Templer of Eads, CO and Leo Templer of Bedford, TX; three sisters, Mozell Wagers of Vista, CA, Madge Perryman of Mangum and Ann Hollingsworth of Altus; eight grandchildren; many other family members.
She was preceded in death by: a sister, Barbara Templer and two brothers, Hugh Templer (1953) and Eual Templer (1985).
