Dorothy Jean "Sis" Crisp, age 90, of Mangum, passed away late Sunday evening, January 5, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, in Oklahoma City.
Mrs. Crisp was born in Duke, Oklahoma on August 19, 1923, to John Simpson and Mae (Eldridge) West. A 1941 graduate of White Flat School, Mrs. Crisp later attended Sayre Junior College. Sis married Walter "Fuzzy" Crisp on March 12, 1949, in Mangum and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2003. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to California where she spent over thirty years with the Department of Agriculture. Retiring in the early 1990"s, they returned to Greer County where she lived until her death. For many years, Sis and her two sisters traveled to Las Vegas twice a year to have fun and enjoy each other"s companionship. In her spare time, Sis enjoyed researching genealogy, attending the White Flat reunions and participating in the activities of her church.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Kim, and a brother, Noble West, she is survived by two sisters, Betty "Peggy" Cervantes of Salinas, California and Nadine Grubbs of Santa Fe, New Mexico along with many nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held for Sis Crisp at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Marsha Purtell officiating. Inurnment services will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
