Duane "Dude" Cummins Tice, age 87, of Hollis, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at his residence, in Hollis.
Mr. Tice was born in Balko, Oklahoma on April 16, 1923, to W.I. and Callie (Wilson) Tice. Moving to Harmon County, North of Hollis, as an infant, Dude attended Arnett School and graduated in 1941, after being a part of the State Basketball Team from Arnett High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Army where he served his country in the active Army and later in the Army Reserves. After his discharge he began farming with his dad and continued farming until 1987, until his health began to decline. For his pastime, Dude enjoyed fishing, watching television and gardening.
Preceded in death by three brothers, Hurnice Tice, Johnny Tice and Raymond Tice and two sisters, Beulah Smith and Oda Castleman, he is survived by four nieces, Cloetta Johnson, Jolene McVickers, Kathy Sells and Loydean Tice, one nephew, Doug Tice along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Duane "Dude" Cummins Tice will be at 11 a.m., Friday, December 23, 2011, at Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel with Bruce Sexton officiating. A private interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis.
