Obituary for Earl Weldon Hall
Earl "Weldon" Hall entered his heavenly home on July 2, 2025, at the age of ninety- five, passing peacefully in Altus, Oklahoma. Born on February 23, 1930, into a life of humble beginnings on the family farm in Erath County, Texas, he was the fifth of eight children of Earl and Dovie (Cox) Hall. He was raised with unshakable work ethic and steadfast Christian values that would define his life.

Growing up in Dublin, Texas during the Dust Bowl, Earl learned early that perseverance and faith could overcome any hardship. As a young man, he and his friends could not afford the dollar to see the Gene Autry Rodeo, so they watched through the fence - a testament to his resourcefulness. By age fourteen, he was already working at a peanut mill and driving tractors to Fort Worth to support his family.

A devout Christian, Earl's life took a beautiful turn when he was set up on a blind date with Leta "Ruth" Locke of De Leon, Texas. Their first date, spent driving around the town square, sparked a love story that would last 74 years. They married on June 11, 1950, in Dublin, Texas, and together built a life anchored in faith, family, and service.

Answering the call of duty, Earl enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, serving in communications as a cryptologist. After receiving training at Oklahoma A&M (now OSU) and Topeka, Kansas, he was stationed in the Philippines before completing his service at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. Upon his honorable discharge, he and Ruth moved to Snyder, Texas, where he worked at W.M. Cameron Lumber Yard before transferring to Altus, Oklahoma.

In 1966, Weldon started working for Martin Building & Plumbing Supply. In 1968, Martin's became the second oldest Ace Hardware store. Weldon bought out the store in 1983. Known for his integrity and dedication, he often went above and beyond - helping customers fix appliances at their homes, offering expert advice, and treating employees like family. Weldon and Ruth's daughter moved in with them to be their caregiver in 2014. He retired in 2022, passing the business to his son, leaving behind a legacy of honest labor and Christian stewardship.

Weldon's faith was the cornerstone of his life. A longtime member of the Nazarene Church, his name is engraved on the cornerstone as a trustee. In his later years, he attended Emmanuel Baptist Church to worship alongside his son, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to Christ.

He had a deep love for animals, a passion for sports (especially the Oklahoma City Thunder), and an uncanny ability to fix anything - from broken tools to delicate watches. But above all, he cherished his family, instilling in them the same faith, work ethic, and kindness that guided his life.

Weldon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leta "Ruth" Hall; his parents, Earl and Dovie Hall; and seven siblings, Anthan Hall, Charlene Kendall, Crawford Hall, Geraldine Sharp, Oneta Hall, Oleta Dodd, and Lewis Hall.

He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Paul; a son, Steve Hall and wife, Robyn; his grandchildren, Kyle Paul and wife, Sara, Kelli Constable and husband, Eric, Brad Rowson and fiance, Jordan Heath, and Heather Facklam and husband, Matt; great grandchildren, Cynthia, Dalton, Honor, Charlie, Beth, and Wesley; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Ray Hall; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family

The Hall family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. A service honoring Weldon's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brent Logan and Pastor Steve Lehew officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Altus Animal Shelter or donate a Gideon Bible.
