Eileen Anderson, 79 of Altus, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Plantation Village Assisted Living Center in Altus.
Eileen Rachel Hawley was born at Long Sutton-Lincolnshire, England to Ron and
Nell Hawley. Eileen moved to Peterborough England, where she met Terry
Rowlings. They were married in 1961. In 1964 they had a son, Ivan Rowlings.
Eileen later married Mick Anderson, a US Airman based in England.
In 1972, Eileen and Ivan moved to Altus Ok. where Mick was transferred.
She attended Western Ok. St. College and received her associates degree. She
then went to work at the Altus AFB Billeting Office where she remained for 29 yrs.
Eileen later married Paul Jansen who preceded her in death in 2009.
Eileen was a very talented tennis player and fan of the sport. She would get up in
the middle of the night to watch overseas tennis matches and cheer on her
favorite player. She was an avid swimmer throughout her life. She enjoyed the
beach, sailing, body surfing, and sunshine. She spent many days at Lake Altus
swimming and riding her jet ski. She would always try to get a swim in when she
could and especially enjoyed swimming at the City pool with her friends.
In her younger years, Eileen started oil painting and became a talented artist
accumulating a sizeable portfolio. She enjoyed painting seascapes, sunsets, and
painted from her minds eye. She enjoyed going to art exhibitions and showing her
art. She always loved for people to admire it. She enjoyed playing bingo, dancing,
and eating at her favorite restaurant, Western Sizzin !!!
She dearly loved her two dogs, Piggly and Champion.
She is survived by her son, Ivan; One sister, Lorna Buhse of Boulder Co.; One
brother, Chris Hawley of Longmont Co.; One sister-in-law, Helen Hawley of
Longmont Co.; Two granddaughters, Amy Rowlings, and Amanda Haake of
Snyder Ok.; One grandson, Nicholas Rowlings of Lawton Ok., One greatgrandson,
Gabriel Haake, of Snyder Ok.; Two nieces, Cathy Hawley and Karen
Hawley of Boulder Co.; and one nephew Michael Hawley of Salida Co..
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul Jansen, and one
nephew, Steven Hawley.
Eileen will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 pm, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus
