Obituary for Elaine Vena Gamble
Elaine Gamble

Elaine V. Gamble, 86 of Olustee, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010. She was born August 3, 1923 in Lyman, Nebraska to Herbert R. and Blanche (Porter) Garrett. On April 14, 1943, she married James Gamble in Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico. Jim was in the Air Force and they were eventually stationed in Altus in 1961. They made their home in Olustee and remained there for almost 50 years.

Elaine was of the Presbyterian faith, but went to any church that was close regardless of its denomination. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1972. Elaine was a very gifted artist. She loved all crafts, and will be well remembered for her beautiful leatherwork and paintings. She loved people and helping people. She loved fishing and the outdoors. Elaine was a wonderful cook and could take "a little of this and a little of that" and turn it into a feast.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her daughter-in-law. She is lovingly survived by one son, James Herbert Gamble of Olustee, OK; a foster son, David Southerland of Muskogee, OK; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 6 nieces; 5 nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 15, 2010 in the Lowell-Tims Chapel. Interment will follow in the Olustee Cemetery. All arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
