Obituary for Elder William Charles Conway
Elder William Charles Conway was born on August 23, 1958, to the late Minister William Edward Conway and Alma Mae Lindsey.

Charles, as he was best known, attended Altus Public Schools. Upon completion of High School, he joined the U. S. Army for a term of five years. He later moved to Las Vegas where he met and married Nahida. Two sons were born, William C. Jr., who preceded him in death and Daniel Charles Conway.

When his health began to diminish, he moved back to Altus.

God called Charles into the ministry at an early age and was ordained as an Elder by Bishop Broom. He served as an Assistant Pastor of First Church of God in Christ until his death.

Elder Conway loved God and he ministered to others during his sickness. He had a drive that compelled him to press his way no matter how he felt. The to Word of God says, "The race is not given to the swift, neither to the strong, but to him that endureth to the end." Elder Conway has fought a good fight and finished his course. God opened up his arms and said, "You have fought a good fight, you have kept the faith. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are laden, and I will give you rest."

God received him into His army on February 2, 2002.

He leaves to cherish his memories one son, Daniel Charles Conway; a mother, Alma Mae Lindsey; five sisters, Dian Johnson of Chicago, Illinois, Mureline (Hubert) Young of Altus, Oklahoma, Pamela (Charles) Ray or Altus, Oklahoma, Elaine Bolding and Laura Martin of Columbus, Ohio; five brothers, Ray Anthony Conway of Chicago, Illinois, Michael Deon Lindsey of Maryland, Gerard Lindsey of McCleen, Texas and Courtney and Whitney Conway of Troy,
New York; two uncles, Leonard Willis of Altus, Oklahoma and Connie B. Willis of Wichita, Kansas; and a host of relatives and friends.
