Obituary for Elise Mae Emswiler

The world has lost a radiant light with the passing of Elise Mae Emswiler, a beautiful, loving, and gentle soul who was tragically taken from us on February 6 in Duke, Oklahoma. At just eleven years old, Elise left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her, embodying kindness, joy, and an unwavering love for life.

Elise was a cherished resident of Mountain Park and a beloved member of the Duke community. Her legacy is one of compassion, positivity, and an extraordinary love for both people and animals. Elise had a special connection with animals—she never met a creature she didn’t adore, and they, in turn, adored her. Her favorite animal was the axolotl, a unique and fascinating reflection of her own vibrant spirit.

Elise’s boundless happiness and infectious positivity were a gift to everyone around her. She woke up each day with a smile and ended it the same way, spreading joy wherever she went. Her radiant smile had the power to lift spirits and brighten even the darkest days. Those who were fortunate enough to know her will forever carry the memory of her warmth and kindness.

A talented cheerleader, a dedicated basketball player, and an avid reader, Elise approached every passion with enthusiasm and determination. She had an insatiable love for books, often devouring them in a single day. Her favorite series, “The Magic Treehouse”, fueled her imagination and love for adventure.

Elise was born on November 23, 2013, in Hammond, Louisiana, to Beverly (Mier) and Landreth Emswiler. She brought immeasurable joy to her family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Though her time with us was far too short, Elise’s light will shine on in the hearts of her loved ones and the countless lives she touched.

On February 6, 2025, she passed away with her father Landreth “Lane” Emswiler, and her sister Carissa Monet Thomas.
