Obituary for Ellen Jones
Ellen Schurich Jones, 82, of Altus, formerly of Hamburg, Germany, passed away at her daughter's home in Altus on Monday, September 5, 2011, with her family by her side.

Ellen was born in Hamburg, Germany, on July 14, 1929, to Karl and Edith (Gacki) Schurich. She married John W. Jones on October 2, 1951, in Bavaria, Germany, at Furstenfeldbruck Air Force Base and then became a United States Citizen on April 15, 1954. In 1964, the United States Air Force brought John and Ellen to Altus.

Ellen worked at Treasure City for four years as a store manager and at Jackson County Memorial Hospital as a central store supervisor for thirteen years. After she retired from the hospital, she went to work for Lonnie Long at Rexco Drug. For sixteen years, Lonnie Long was not only an employer to her, she considered him a son. Ellen was known as the woman with the vibrant red hair and German accent. She always went out of her way to help her customers.

Ellen loved to bowl, shop, and travel to Germany to visit family. She especially loved and enjoyed watching her grandkids and great-grandkids play sports. She made it to as many events as possible.

Ellen was a very special lady who would treat a stranger as if they were family. Ellen will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John W. Jones on April 18, 1995, and one brother, Kurt Schurich, Ellen is survived by three daughters, Debby Ann Jones of Oklahoma City, Robin Sue Jones Ybarra Perry and husband Steven of Altus, and Tammy Lorraine Jones Kisicki Couey of Oklahoma City; grandsons, Robby Ybarra and wife Veronica, Christopher Ybarra, and Kyron Kisicki; granddaughters, Tiffany Gray, April Gray, Ashley Jones, and Amy Rule; great-grandsons, Brandon "Preppy" Ybarra, Landon Ybarra, Caelan Ybarra, L'Donn Ybarra, Jordan Woods, Shawn Hiscock, Rayvion Gray, and JaMarkis Gray; great-granddaughters, Logan Ybarra, Jerzey Star Ybarra, Halee Scott, Asiah Ware, and Jennie Cobb; her very special friends, Lonnie Long, Paul and Rose Salomon, Bobby Ybarra and Donna, Misty Roberts, Marsha King, and "all the special friends at Rexco"; Mary and Cleo Hayes and many nieces, nephews, and other friends.

Memorial Services for Ellen Jones will be held 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011, at the Altus Centennial Memorial Center at the Altus City Cemetery with Reverend Erin Martinez officiating. Lowell-Tims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends are encouraged to come to the funeral home to sign Mrs. Jones' register book and view remembrances provided by her family.
