Elsie J. Sanchez, age 88, of Altus, passed away early Friday morning, February 27, 2015, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Sanchez was born in Pleasanton, Texas on February 22, 1927, to Elijhio and Jila (Trevino) Jimenez. Attending school in Pleasanton, she moved to Dement, Texas as a teenager. On April 1, 1952, she married Estban Sanchez and they made their home in Altus. Elsie worked for Kellwood Manufacturing for many years and then worked for several more years doing housekeeping at Altus Air Force Base before retirement. In her spare time, Elsie loved playing Bingo, watching Spanish Soap Operas along with The Price is Right and Family Feud, but most of all she loved being with her family.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Ismael, Undio and Rey; five sisters, Juanita, Lyly, Olivia, Mary and Dora; five sons, Pedro, Gabriel, Jose, Ricky and Gilbert and one daughter, Estella, she is survived by three sons, Candelario Ybarro of California, Estban Sanchez, Jr. and wife Amelia of Lawton and Tony Able Sanchez of Altus; two daughters, Barbara Sandoval of Houston, Texas and Maria Hayes and husband Cleo of Lawton; thirty-one grandchildren; sixty-two great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Beatty; two granddaughters she raised as her own, Gloria Coleman and Penny Sanchez; special grandsons, Michael Hayes, Arron Hayes, Tony Sanchez, Jr., Justin Sanchez, Joel Villareal and Bryan Torres; a longtime friends, Lala Luna along with many other relatives and friends.
Rosary services for Elsie Sanchez will be at 6 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2015, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
