Obituary for Elvira S. Callins
Funeral service for Elvira S. Callins, 83, Hollis, Oklahoma will be at the Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 4, 2015 with Pastor Tammy Ingram, Zion Hill Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at the Fairmount Cemetery, Hollis, Oklahoma.
Ms. Callins passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Elvira S. Callins was born to James and Minnie (Sterling) Davis in Bryan, Texas on May 2, 1932. She married Jim Wilson at an early age and to this union Jimmy Ray Wilson was born. Elvira united with the Zion Hill Baptist Church over fifty years ago where she loved playing the piano and singing with the Church Choir. She later began a group called "the Gospel Singers". The group consisted of six other women singers. Elvira later married J.D. Callins and Clyde Davis, and they both preceded her in death. She worked many years doing upkeep of the local phone company office. She also spent some time working for Theil Cummins, his family was like family to her. Elvira loved playing the piano, working in her yard, playing with her (Bandit) and being with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, all of her siblings; a son and a daughter.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Wilson and wife Dorothy of Columbia, South Carolina and Kenneth Wilson of Bryan, Texas; three grandchildren, Traci Wilson of Columbia, SC, Stephanie and husband Martin Suarez of Lawton, Oklahoma and Marquis Wilson of Bryan, TX; four great grandchildren; two great great granddaughters a host of nieces and nephews and many other friends.
