Emory Jacob Davidson, 91, of Hollis, Oklahoma, formerly of Vinson passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Colonial Manor II Nursing Home in Hollis.
Emory Jacob Davidson was born March 4, 1922 to Jacob R. and May Davidson in Vinson, Oklahoma. He was the third child and oldest son of a family of six. He graduated from high school in Vinson in 1940. After one year of college, he went to California to work in an aircraft factory.
Emory sent for the love of his life, Doris Wooley of Vinson in December of 1941 and they were married on the thirteenth day in Yuma, Arizona. They lived in Hawthorn, California one year where Emory worked for the North American Aircraft Factory. In November of 1942 Emory was inducted into the Army Air Force and served over three years during World War II. He was discharged in 1946. Emory and Doris lived one year in Hobart, Oklahoma, where he worked for a construction company. Wanting to get a start in farming, they spent 1947-1948 near Russell, Oklahoma, renting a relative"s place. While there, their son, Dennis was born on June 14, 1948. In January 1949 they bought and moved to their home place west and north of Vinson. They were back home in the community where they were raised and attended the Vinson Methodist Church. On June 13, 1952 their daughter, Jana, was born.
In 1957 they were able to build the house that became their permanent home. In 1960, Emory became the Postmaster of the Vinson Post Office, serving there for twenty-two years while continuing his farming and ranching business. He and Doris shared the position of reporting to the National Weather Bureau in Norman, Oklahoma for forty-five years. Emory served on the Harmon Memorial Hospital Board and Cave Creek Cemetery Boards for a number of years.
Emory loved fishing and taking kids fishing. He always had time for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and playing dominoes. He worked hard at everything he did, including growing a large garden and giving away most of the produce.
Doris passed away in November of 1996. Emory married Ruby Patrick in May 1998. Ruby passed away while they were living at Colonial Manor II Nursing Home in 2010. Emory had retired from farming in 2008.
Emory made a profession of faith at the arbor in Vinson as a child. He was a member of the Hollis United Methodist Church.
Emory is survived by one son, Dennis Davidson and wife Marilyn of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Jana Motley and husband James of Hollis; grandchildren, Jacob Davidson of The Woodlands, Texas, Adam Davidson and wife Sarah of Houston, Texas, Jared Motley and wife Rebekah of Hollis, Joy Luce and husband Darrion of Hollis, Jesse Motley and wife Emily of Altus; and fourteen loving great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Hollis, Oklahoma with Pastor Don Altom Officiating. Interment will follow in the Cave Creek Cemetery in Vinson, Oklahoma under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home in Hollis, Oklahoma.
