Erby G. Hunter, age 90 of Altus, Oklahoma and a longtime resident of Elmer, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Erby was born October 13th, 1929 in Olustee, Oklahoma to Erby S. and Ruby May (Peyton) Hunter. He was raised and educated at Southside Highschool in Hess, Oklahoma.
Erby was a farmer inside and out. Farming was his passion, his job and his hobby.
He married Mary Betsie Bell on December 29, 1978 and they established their home on the family farm near Hess. For thirty eight years, Erby and Mary were inseparable they always did everything together. Together they enjoyed going square dancing and going to the Rodeo.
He was a man of his word if told you something you could take in the bank.
He was preceded in death by his parents Erby and Ruby Hunter, Brother Deane Peyton Hunter, his wife of thirty eight years Mary (Bell) Hunter.
Surviving Erby are a special friend and care taker Steve Allison of Altus, Oklahoma , daughter in Law Shelly Mason of Vernon, Texas; step sons Sid Mason and wife Cheryl; Don Mason and wife Marla; five step grandchildren , Kristen Horn and husband Bradley, Kayla Mason, Cole Mason and Whit Mason and wife Katy Tommy Tucker and wife Danielle . seven step great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday December 14, 2019 in Hess Cemetery, Hess, Oklahoma with Doug Altom officiating. Services are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
