Obituary for Eric William Buell
Special Agent Eric William Buell, 25, of Altus, OK, passed away on November 2, 2022.


Eric was born on December 10, 1996 in Plymouth, NC, and grew up in Stonewall, OK. Immediately after graduation from Stonewall High School in 2014, he enlisted in the US Air Force, and quickly proved his aptitude as a Mobility Air Forces Integrated Instrument and Flight Control Systems specialist for C-17A and C-5M aircraft over the next six years while being stationed at Travis Air Force Base, CA and Ramstein Air Base, DE.


Eric was later inspired by the work of the Department of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI), and was subsequently recruited in 2021, graduating from the Criminal Investigations Training Program (CITP) and Basic Special Investigations Course (BSIC) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA. He was then assigned to OSI Detachment 422, at Altus AFB, OK where he was responsible for conducting criminal and counterintelligence investigations with sensitivity, empathy, determination, and discretion. He led 20 felony-level investigations cases, and assisted 35 others, most notably in a very complex domestic violence case, uncovering critical information that led to the discovery of an additional victim. He also assisted in a massive $12M government purchase fraud case, and guided new recruits in fraud investigations. Additionally, he developed liaison partnerships with many local police detectives, which helped to expand investigative efforts between departments.
Eric had a soft spot for animals, and recently adopted his puppy, Lily from the Altus Animal Shelter.


Eric is survived by his mother Jackie, sister Christina Carroll, aunt Danielle Bingham, his nieces and nephew, several cousins, and friends beyond counting, as well as his devoted dog, Lily.

A vigil for Eric will be held on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at: Criswell Funeral Home, 815 Arlington Street, Ada, OK 74820.

Funeral services were held at 12:30 pm on Thursday, November 10th, 2022: First Baptist Church of Stonewall, 303 Harrison Avenue, Stonewall, OK 74871.

Local arrangements were entrusted to Lowell - Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
