Obituary for Ernest Louis Chambers
Ernest Louis Chambers Ernest Louis Chambers passed away Monday, August 14,2000 at his residence in Altus Oklahoma at the age of 58. Ernest was born August 18, 1941, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Washington and Helen (Head) Chambers. He married Catherine Carrol January 12, 1974. He served in the United States Air Force. He was employed in maintenance at the Southwest Technology Center in Altus for the past several years. He had lived in the Altus community for over thirty years. Ernest was dedicated to his family and enjoyed being with his friends. He was a talented musician, the director of sound for Sunday School lessons at the First Baptist Church, and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Altus. Ernest is survived by his wife, Catherine Chambers, of the home in Altus: three sons, Jeffrey McBride and his wife Ruth of Austin, Texas, Christopher Chambers of Amarillo, Texas and Erin Chambers and his wife Susie of Altus, Oklahoma: one brother, Richard Chambers of Columbus, Ohio: two grandsons, Lance Simpson and Joseph Crutchfield, and one granddaughter, Emily Zimmerman and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services for Ernest Chambers will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 17, 2000 at the First Baptist Church in Altus With Sonny Tims officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
