Obituary for Fern Tims
Mrs. Lynn (Fern) Tims, age 89, passed away Sunday, June 23rd, 1996, at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma. Fern was born April 22nd, 1907, in Wise County, Texas.
She was the daughter of the late William Marion and Vina Alice (King) Maley.
Mrs. Tims was a prominent business woman for over 36 years. She was co-owner of the Altus Floral Company with the late Edna Gary Mills. Fern was a charter member of the local chapter of the American Business Women's Association. She was a longtime member of the Altus First Baptist Church where she became a Christian at the age of 13. She taught Sunday School for pre-school ages for over 50 years.
Mrs. Tims graduated from the Ozark School and the Altus Business School. She married Lynn M. Tims October 7, 1928 at Tipton, OK and he preceded her in death April 13, 1994.
Fern was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Lynn; two sisters; two brothers; one granddaughter and two grandsons.
She is survived by four children, Joyce Tims of Altus, Oklahoma, Lynette Jackson of Seguin, TX, Karen Barker of Indianapolis, IN and Susan McDonald of Midwest City, OK; one brother, Eldon Maley of Altus; one sister, Thelma Castle Walker of Bedford, TX; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
