Frances was born August 21, 1924, in Burkburnett, Texas, to Emerson and Edith (Kerr) Laghrore. She married Glenn B. Phifer October 20, 1946, in Grandfield, Oklahoma, and they had two children. Frances worked in Civil Service at the Altus Air Force Base as a bookkeeper in the Commissary. She loved her job and enjoyed the interaction with her co-workers and customers. Her favorite hobby was crocheting, of which she was very talented. Frances was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus since the 1940's. When her health started to fail, Frances always watched church services through the TV ministry.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glenn on January 3, 1998, an infant daughter, Denise Lyn, and one brother, Lynden Laghrore, Frances is survived by one son, Dennis Phifer of Altus; one grandson, Dennis Allen Phifer, also of Altus; and one sister, Shirley Allercamp and husband Garil of Texas.
Funeral Services for Frances Phifer will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
