Frances Margala Stowe, age 88 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday morning, March 16, 2016 at Bridges Rehabilitation at Plantation Village in Altus.
Frances Margala Wilson Stowe was born November 10, 1927 to Marcus O. and Alice Jenkins Wilson in Blair, OK. In 1944 she married Raymond Stowe of Altus shortly before he left to serve in WWII. Frances was Valedictorian of the 1945 graduating class of City View High School and received her teaching certificate. She taught for a brief time before the war ended and she took on the role of wife, farmer and rancher, and Mother of three children, Brent, Paulette and Lynnette. In 1958 she began working for the American Red Cross at Altus AFB, later transferring to Lawton then to Lakenheath RAF, Suffolk England. Frances enjoyed traveling In England, France and Greece but was happy to return to Jackson County when she retired from Red Cross with 20 years of service. In 1979 she received her Advanced Real Estate Certificate and became a realtor and then property manager in the Altus area until her recent illness. Frances believed in working hard and in the value of education, taking classes at the Altus Junior College for several years herself and encouraging her children and grandchildren to value education.
Frances was preceded in death by both parents, a sister Othela, her husband Raymond and her beloved son Brent. She is survived by her daughters Paulette (John) Wilson, Edmond and Lynnette (Sid) Wilson, Ponte Vedre, FL; Grandchildren Blake (Amy) Wilson, Parker, CO; Diane (Trevor) Nutt, Norman, OK; Courtney (Kevin) Johnson, Gainsville, FL and Sean (Katie) Wilson, Ponte Vedre, FL.; and seven great-grandchildren Taylor, Caleb, Avery and Tommy Wilson, and Carter, Hudson and Brentley Nutt; and Daughter-in-law Pauletta Stowe, Norman.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory in Altus.
Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus with Pastor Barry James officiating.
