Francoise Gertrude Townsend, age 78 of Altus, passed away Monday morning, November 11, 2013, at an Oklahoma City Hospital.
Mrs. Townsend was born in Forbach France on October 31, 1935, to John and Gertrude (Piffer) Alsetta. She married William Townsend on October 12, 1958 in Verdon France. They served in many military bases around the world with William"s career. Moving to Altus in 1973, the Townsend family continued to live and make their home her until her death. Fran enjoyed bingo, casinos and traveling all around the world. She adored her children and grandchildren and was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Eline Alletta and Nico Dixon, she is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home; three children, Elizabeth Masters of Jacksonville, Florida, Michael Townsend of Chandler, Oklahoma and Nicolas Townsend of Weatherford, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Mason Master, Mitchell Masters, Miles Masters, Telly Townsend, Jessie Townsend, Grace Townsend and Catherine Townsend along with many other relatives and friends.
Rosary for Fran Townsend will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2013, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Joseph Sundar officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
