Obituary for Frank James Payton
Frank James Payton, longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma, formerly of Crossville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on December 30th, 2022 at the Edmond Medical Center.
Frank was born to Eduardo "Lalo" Carbajal and Tillie Payton on August 15, 1944 in Yuma, Arizona. Here, he grew up with his brother. Later, he attended vocational school for drafting then went on to work as a mechanical draftsman for Bristol Myers Squibb until he retired.
Frank met the love of his life, Judy. Together, they had a loving marriage until her passing November 22, 2014. During their marriage they lived in Leavenworth, Kansas, Coldspring, Texas, and Crossville, Alabama before finally settling down in Altus, Oklahoma. During their beautiful 17 years together, theybuilt a happy and loving life together.
In his free time, Frank loved fishing. He would enjoy it while boating, another hobby of his, and he would share that joy with those around him. He also loved gardening, playing pool, and had a passion for hot-rods. Frank was always happy to enjoy these hobbies with his loved ones, creating amazing and everlasting memories.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents Eduardo "Lalo" Carbajal and Tillie Payton and wife Judy Payton.
Frank is survived by his brother Larry Payton; sons Jerry Rice and wife Jennifer, Brian Payton and wife Sabrina, and Steve Payton; daughter Julie Johnson and husband John; step daughter Debbie Bailey; bonus daughter Laura Owen; grandkids Jessica, Jayden, Ashleigh, Chelsie, Kaitlynn, Cody, Evan and Logan; great-grandkids Sydney, Hayden, Hunter, Kekoa, Ethan, Evan, Emmitt, and Elijah; as well as many other loved family members and friends.
The Payton family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2022 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
