Obituary for Fremont J. Nebling Jr.
Fremont J. "Freddie" Nebling Jr., age 61, died Saturday, February 23rd, 2002, at his home.
Born April 27, 1940, at Farmington, Missouri, he graduated from high school there and attended nearby Mineral Area College. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1959 and rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant by the time he retired in 1985. He was an aircraft mechanic and worked primarily on the KC-135. During the Vietnam War, he served two tours of duty in Thailand and two on Guam. Other assignments were at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota and Grissom AFB in Indiana.
Nebling married Brenda Faulkner on November 19, 1961, at Wichita Falls, Texas. After tours of duty at Sheppard AFB in Texas and Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota, the couple was transferred to Altus AFB in 1966.
His military decorations included the Bronze Star with One Oak Leaf Cluster and the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters.
After Nebling's retirement from the Air Force, he took a job with Altus Athletic/OK-1 Manufacturing Company and was still employed there when he died.
His father, Fremont J. Nebling Sr., died in 1965. Survivors include his wife, Brenda of the home; his mother, Katherine T. Nebling of Farmington, MI; two sons, John Nebling and his wife Angela,of Rogers, Arkansas and Fremont J. "Monte" Nebling III and his wife Vickie of Altus, Oklahoma; a daughter, Deborah Parks and her husband Brian of Altus, Oklahoma; a sister, Phyllis Strauser of Rolla, MI; twelve grandchildren, Christopher Nebling, Brett Nebling, Clara Nebling, Elizabeth Nebling, Mary Grace Nebling and Seth Nebling, all of Rogers, Arkansas, Jerrod Williams, Justyn Williams and his wife, Tiffany and Jeana Williams, all of Altus, Oklahoma, Fremont J. "Buddy" Nebling IV of San Antonio, TX, Jenna Dyer and Rebekah Parks, both of Altus, Oklahoma; and one great-grandchild, Steven Ray Williams of Altus, Oklahoma.
