Obituary for Garland Thompson
Garland Thompson age 80, longtime Jackson County resident passed away Tuesday, November 25, 1997 in the Baptist Medical Center at Oklahoma City. Garland was born March 16, 1917 at Alvord, Texas to the late Charles E. and Nannie (Bishop) Thompson. He married Ernestine Warren, March 10, 1939 at Frederick, Oklahoma. Garland was a long time farmer in Jackson County having farmed over 50 years in Humphery and Ozark. He served 20 years on the Jackson County Memorial Hospital Board. He also served on the Headrick Gin Board. He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church over 48 years.
Services for Garland Thompson are scheduled for 11 am Friday, November 28, 1997 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Pate officiating and John Thomas assisting. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Ernestine Thompson of the home; children; Judy Dodson and husband Keith of Altus, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Debbie Cox and husband Robert, Mark Dobson and wife Lisa, Scott Dobson; 4 great-grandchildren, Carly Cox, Marissa Dobson Lauren Dobson, and Allison Cox.
Preceded in death by parents, 3 brothers, Harmon Thompson, Clyde Thompson and Emmett Thompson.
