Obituary for Gary Don Dowdy
Gary Don Dowdy, age 60, formerly of Mangum, was called home to his Lord and Savior early Sunday morning, November 25, 2012, at Muskogee Regional Medical Center, in Muskogee, after a courageous battle with his health.
Gary was born February 4, 1952, in Monahans, Texas to Henry Lee and Deweese Fern (Fergerson) Dowdy and raised in Mangum. Gary accepted Christ in his heart many years ago and was an ordained minister. He was a long time Harley enthusiast and local GM mechanic, having spent many years at John Vance Auto, in Guthrie. He was also a talented artist, poet, and knife maker.
Preceded in death by both parents and two half-brothers, Gary is survived by son Gary Paul Dowdy and grandson Gage of Utah; cousins Brenda Barker, and Debbie Milner of Eufaula, Oklahoma, Glen Fergerson of Mangum, Diana Augustine of Lawton, Larry Britton, Nancy Britton Davis, & Sheryl Britton Alvis of Midwest City, Jack Dowdy of Edmond, Sue Musick of Kingfisher, Dale Dowdy of Texas and many more relatives and friends.
The family will conduct a private memorial service at a later date. Cremations services were entrusted to Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
