Obituary for Gertrude Hove
Gertrude Hove was born February 25th, 1904 at Morrisonville, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Kari Hove. She died November 2nd, 1996 in Altus. She came to Jackson County with her parents in March 1907. She attended school at Grandview and Prairie Hill, graduating in 1925. She attended Oklahoma A&M and graduated in 1931. On receiving her teachers certificate she taught school at Prairie Hill two years. She returned to Oklahoma A&M and received a degree in Home Economics. She served as Assistant to the Extension Agent in Love County. She served as Extension Agent in Nowata for 10 years, and served as County Extension Agent in Montgomery, Reno and Columbus in Kansas, retiring in January 1966. She returned to Altus in September 1973. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Member of Business & Professional Women, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Epsilon Phi.

Services will be Tuesday, November 5, 1996 at First Christian Church, 2:00 p.m. with Rev Dave Brummett officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; one sister, Claris Craft; one brother, L.J. Hove; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Elmer Craft and Lydia Hove; one nephew, Elmer Craft, Jr.

She is survived by one brother, Seg Hove and his wife Edna of Altus, OK.
