Gilbert Leon (Gib) Marquart
Gilbert Leon (Gib) Marquart passed away Friday, July 21, 1995, at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Gib was born May 27, 1913, near Duke, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Grover and Kattie Marquart.
On November 16, 1934, he married Lillie Mae Bass at the Prairie Hill Parsonage. He was a life long resident of Duke and Jackson County.
Mr. Marquart was involved in farming from 1934 until his retirement in 1978. He served his community in various capacities. He served n both the Duke and Prairie Hill School Boards, the Centralvue Water Board, and the Farmers Union. He was a board member of R.E.A. for many years, President of the Jackson County Farmers Union, and served the Duke Methodist Church in various capacities.
Mr. Marquart was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Harold Marquart.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Mae Marquart of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wydon and Troy Warren of Laton, and Vida and Jerald Hamer of Hyrdo, Oklahoma; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Karla Marquart of Duke; one sister, Roverta henderson of Moore, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Michael Warren, Mitzi Marquart, Denise Howard, Pendra Cook, Lanny Hamar, and Kacy Marquart; two great-grandchildren, Sarah and Megan; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
